SunBooster connects only for power. It draws energy directly from any screen or laptop via a standard USB-C port. Designed in the Netherlands under strict quality and safety standards, SunBooster does not access any data on your device and has no Bluetooth or wireless connectivity.
What’s the difference between near-infrared light, a daylight lamp, and a UV lamp?
Near-infrared light is an invisible part of natural sunlight that reaches deep into your skin, energizing cells and supporting your well-being. It’s the vital wavelength your body misses when spending time indoors. SunBooster is designed for modern, busy lifestyles. It works effortlessly in the background while you work without distraction.
A daylight lamp mimics the brightness of sunlight to support circadian rhythm, while a UV lamp helps the skin make vitamin D but can also damage it with too much exposure.
Unlike daylight or UV lamps, near-infrared light goes beyond what you see or feel on the surface, it restores the deeper cells your body truly needs to feel energized, better mood, and balanced.
How much time would I need to spend in the sun to get the same amount of near-infrared light as SunBooster?
Using SunBooster for 2 to 4 hours per day provides approximately the same near-infrared light exposure as about 7 hours of natural sunlight on a cloudy day, or roughly 16 minutes of midday sunlight under a very clear winter sky. Research shows that this amount of near-infrared light is sufficient to deliver its health benefits, making it convenient for everyday use.
Does SunBooster help with vitamin D?
No. Vitamin D is produced in the body through exposure to UV light, which the SunBooster does not emit. Unlike UV, near-infrared light penetrates deep into the skin to activate the mitochondria – the “powerhouses” of your cells – supporting cellular function. SunBooster provides this near-infrared light indoors, helping you feel more energized and balanced in a way that complements, but is distinct from, vitamin D.
Is there a risk of overexposure to near-infrared light?
There is no risk of overexposure. Near-infrared light has been demonstrated to be safe for daily use, even when applied in multiple sessions throughout the day.
Will near-infrared light damage my skin and make me tanned?
No. Near-infrared light does not tan the skin or cause UV damage. Tanning and sunburn come from UV light, which SunBooster does not use. NIR is a gentle, non-UV part of sunlight that supports well-being without affecting skin color.
Is SunBooster also useful for skincare, anti-aging or other diseases?
The SunBooster is not used for treating your skin or other diseases. SunBooster makes use of SunLED near-infrared light technology which improves your energy, mood and well-being. In the independent scientific study of SunLED near-infrared light technology, the participants had improved physical health, mental health and immunity: https://sunbooster.health/science/ However, SunBooster is not intended to diagnose, cure, or prevent specific diseases of medical conditions, and it is not intended as medical advice or a substitute for medical advice.
Does SunBooster have any competitors?
SunBooster doesn’t have any direct competitors. It’s a one-of-a-kind device that brings the wellness benefits of sunlight into everyday life. While near-infrared light is used in various medical and beauty devices, SunBooster takes a different approach: helping you feel more energized and improving your mood.
Can I use SunBooster while wearing my glasses?
You can use SunBooster while wearing glasses, including computer glasses, reading glasses, or even sunglasses. These do not interfere with or block the healthy near infrared light emitted by SunBooster.
Is SunBooster eye-safe?
Yes. SunBooster is CE-certified and has been independently tested in accordance with applicable international safety standards, including eye safety.
Set up and use
Does SunBooster affect my laptop's energy consumption?
If you use SunBooster on a battery-powered laptop (not connected to a charger), you may notice that the battery drains faster than usual. Depending on your laptop model, SunBooster may consume approximately 20–30% of your battery capacity over the 2-4 hours required to deliver a full session.
Can I use a different USB cable or plug SunBooster in with an adapter?
Yes. SunBooster is designed to work with a USB-C connection (≥ 1A) or a power adapter (≥ 5 W). You may use your own USB-C cable and/or adapter if you prefer. To update the firmware on SunBooster, you will need a USB-C cable that supports data transfer.
Will SunBooster affect my webcam image during video calls?
SunBooster emits near infrared light, which is invisible to the human eye. Most modern webcams include an IR cut filter, so SunBooster will not affect image quality during video calls.
However, some older or lower-cost laptop webcams may be sensitive to near infrared light. In these cases, your image may appear slightly green or tinted during video calls. If this happens, you can adjust your camera settings, such as white balance or colour correction, increase room lighting, or simply turn off SunBooster during meetings.
What is the effective irradiance level of SunBooster?
SunBooster is designed to use minimum energy for the maximum effects, SunLED’s patented near-infrared light technology delivers the right wavelength, intensity, and dose – the three essential ingredients for near-infrared light that delivers the healthy effects according to the independent scientific study: https://sunbooster.health/science/
Within the designed beam angle (face and neck), the irradiance is > 7.5 mW/cm² at distances of 30–80 cm and > 5 mW/cm² at distances of 80–100 cm, with an average power consumption of only 4 W.
When should I use SunBooster, and what does “Environment too dark” mean?
We recommend using SunBooster during the daytime, so you receive sunlight-like exposure at times when your body naturally needs it.
If the screen displays the message “Environment too dark,” it means the surrounding light level is too low. Please use SunBooster in a well-lit environment, such as by turning on your room lights or desk lamp.
Does SunBooster interfere with other devices?
SunBooster emits near infrared light, which in rare cases maybe affect devices that also use near-infrared technology. If you notice any interference, simply pause SunBooster and resume it afterward. This usually resolves the issue immediately.
